About the St. Andrew Knot
Saint Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, Barbados, Georgia, Ukraine, Russia, Greece, Cyprus, Romania, Patras, Burgundy, San Andrés (Tenerife), Amalfi, Luqa (Malta), fishermen, rope-makers, textile workers, singers, miners, pregnant women, butchers, and farm workers. This saint also protects against sore throats… which is interesting as the St. Andrew Knot bears his name and wraps around your neck where the throat is located. Mind blown!
The key to making a successful Saint Andrew Knot is not found in your connection to Barbados but in making sure the wide end hangs significantly lower than the narrow end at the beginning. The finished St. Andrew Knot is slightly uneven. If you want symmetry, go for a Windsor Knot.
