Inspired by the Miraculous Medal of Our Lady of Graces. Mary stands with her arms open, inviting believers to seek comfort in her image. She stands on the globe, representing her ascension into heaven, and she stands on the serpent that corrupted Eve. The rays emanating from her hands represent her graces.
Surrounding the effigy are the words “Ô Marie, conçue sans péché, priez pour nous qui avons recours à vous” which translate to: “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee."
On the back, a central ‘M’ stands for “Mary, Mother, Mediatrix.” The cross rising from its top represents the cross of Jesus’ redemption, and the 12 stars surrounding the mark symbolise the 12 apostles.
Under the M are 2 flaming hearts. The left one is crowned with thorns, representing Jesus; and the one on the right is pierced by a sword, representing Mary. The flames at the top of both represent the love they have for all people.
