A few decades ago, every driver wore driving gloves. Not just classy chauffeurs or racecar drivers. That’s why the drop-down compartment in front of the passenger seat of your car is called the ‘glove’ box.
These fingerless driving gloves are comfortable to wear thanks to highly flexible sheep leather, and the perforations on the leather’s surface allow your hands to breathe. Two buttons on the back of the hand let you adjust their fit around your wrist.
They improve your grip on the wheel, preventing your hands from getting tired on long-haul drives; protect your knuckles from drying out with the air conditioning blowing over your hands; keep your hands warm on those cold winter mornings; protect the material on your steering wheel from the acidic fat on your hands; and look friggin’ stylish.
So why isn’t everyone wearing them these days?
Your guess is as good as ours.
